WEST JEFFERSON — The Ashe County High School boy’s soccer team took the Elkin Elks for a whirl as they defeated them 2-0 on Feb. 19.

With a slow start, the soccer ball was passed between the two territories, only getting close to the goals a handful of times.

Goal Keeper Ram Lopez saved an incredible penalty kick in the first half, displaying the Huskies’ strive for the ball to stay on their end.

After gaining a foul, Christian Ramos earned a free kick, swiftly driving it into the net.

Blake Levi also made a goal with 13 minutes left in the game.

The Huskies left being the only ones on the scoreboard.

Currently, the boys are second in the conference with a 5-2 placement.

They will take to the field again on Feb. 23 at Elkin. Kickoff is set for 5:15 p.m.
