SWINE FEST: The River House Inn and Restaurant will host Swine Fest on Saturday, July 17 from noon to 5:00 p.m. The event features live music and Josh’s pulled pork lunch. Tickets are a person $50 per person. Call (336) 982-2109 to reserve. Bands include Radio City, Justin Poindexter & Sasha Papernik, and Doug Davis and The Grapes of Wrath. Event will happen rain or shine. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket or a Pop-up tent. Meal includes Josh’s pulled pork, baked beans, coleslaw, pasta salad.Beverages will be available. No coolers and no pets. The River House Inn and Restaurant is located at 1896 Old Field Creek Rd, Grassy Creek. 

ASHE COUNTY JOB FAIR: On July 20, a job fair will be held at Family Central located at 626 Ashe Central School Road in Jefferson. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Positions in child care, food service, health care, manufacturing and retail. Individuals are asked to bring their resume if they have one.

FRIDAYS IN THE PARK: The Burnette Sisters Band with Colin Ray will perform at the Ashe County Park on July 16, at 7 p.m. Concerts are free, but registration is required. Attendance will be limited to 300. No alcohol, bottled drinks and packaged food only. Guest should bring their own lawn chair. The Ashe County Park in located at 527 Ashe Park Road. 

BACKSTREET CONCERT: The next West Jefferson Community Partnership’s Summer Concert Series will showcases the many talents of Liam Purcell and Cane Mill Road Friday, July 9, 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., in the Backstreet Park. The concert is free and open to the public, guest are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. Backstreet Park is located on 2nd Ave, in West Jefferson.

SECOND ANNUAL DILLON'S RIDE: Join us as we celebrate the life of an American Hero - Sgt. Dillon C. Baldridge. He was killed in action by small arms fire on June 10, 2017 in Peka Valley, Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan while serving in Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. On July 17, 2021 we will hold the Second Annual Dillon’s Ride. This will be a 115 mile ride through the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains that Dillon loved. Once we're back at CrossRoads, there will be entertainment and other events. This event will last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The ride starts in Wilkesboro then heads through Laurel Springs, Sparta and Jefferson. For more information visit dillonsride.com/.
