WEST JEFFERSON — It was announced at its annual meeting that the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce will be receiving an expansion of its West Jefferson location.
The expansion will involve taking over the empty space next door on North Jefferson Avenue, formerly the home of Alebrijes, which closed in the Winter.
According to Executive Director Kitty Honeycutt, the current space the Chamber uses will not be expanded, but the new space will act as an addition. She said the new space will serve as a meeting area, with the Chamber’s board of directors being the first in mind, and chamber member businesses will also have a priority in reserving the spot to fit their needs.
Honeycutt said the idea had been brought up in the past, with chamber board members having proposed the idea multiple times.
