WEST JEFFERSON — The sponsors have been finalized for the Blue Ridge BBQ & Brew Festival, scheduled to be held Aug. 30-31 at the Blue Ridge Theater and Events Center in Glendale Springs.

Competition barbecuer James Killian, who is overseeing to the festival’s creation and execution, said the event wouldn’t be possible without the support they’ve received from the sponsors. He added that Gary Brown and Boondocks, the title and main stage sponsor for the Steak Cookoff Association half of the event, has especially been supportive from the beginning.

Joining Boondocks for the SCA portion are AEV and Ingles as platinum-level partners, Holiday Inn Express, Associated Brands, Jefferson Rent-All, Mastercraft Log Homes, First Citizens Bank and Antiques on Main as gold-level partners and Guardian Insurance Agency, Sheets Brothers, CarQuest and Lowe’s as silver-level partners.

The other half of the event is the Kansas City Barbeque Society, which features Doby’s Plumbing and Well Drilling as the title and main stage sponsor. Joining them is Miller Insurance, Dr. Pepper Bottling Company and Vannoy Construction as title sponsors, Boondocks Brewing, Jefferson Landing and Cross Roads Harley as platinum-level partners, New River Inn and Cabins, Barr’s Fiddle Shop, Smoky Mountain Barbeque, Scott Brothers Heating and Air, Mountain Kubota and Walmart as gold-level partners.

Rounding out the KCBS sponsors is silver-level partners Reeves Divenere Wright, Ameriprise Financial, Glenn’s Car Care, Enchanted Farm Antiques, Hole Lotta Doughnuts, Hardee’s and Valencia’s Graphics and bronze-level partners Parson’s Farms, Weaver’s Equipment and Days Inn.

The competition is expected to feature more than 40 competitors in what is now the official barbecue championship for North Carolina. Also featured will be dozens of breweries and wineries for people to buy from and sample. Killian said the event is expected to bring $200,000-$300,000 to Ashe County.

Killian said the list of competitors is still being finalized, but should be announced in the next few weeks.
