Ashe resident turns 100

Longtime Ashe resident Zenna Roten turned 100-years-old Tuesday, March 3. Born to Mary and Trealy Royal in Wilkes County in 1920, Roten has lived on the New River for many years, having 12 children in a long and love-filled marriage. A hard-worker her whole life, Roten put in long hours to have a small house built for her family many years ago which she still lives in. Since her husband died at 68, her children have honored her wishes of staying in the house by taking care of her like she did for them.
