The Ashe County Arts Council announced June 10 its new executive director, Jeff Fissel. Fissel will be taking over from the retiring director of 30 years, Jane Lonon.
Fissel is an Appalachian State University graduate and lives in Boone. For the last nine years, Fissel has been the executive director of Historic Rural Hill in Huntersville. He comes to the Arts Council with extensive fundraising, managerial and marketing experience.
In the position of executive director Fissel will manage a staff of two, hundreds of volunteers, a varied calendar of concerts, gallery exhibits, festivals and many other arts related events in Ashe County.
“Board members who have been involved in the search for a new executive director are pleased that Jeff Fissel has accepted the position," Ashe County Arts Council Board President Ed Perzel said. "Jeff is an outstanding young man with eight years of experience in the non-profit arena. His easy style and confidence provide what the arts need to continue to thrive in Ashe County.”
Fissel will assume his new position on June 19.
