The Ashe County Arts Council will host Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen at the Ashe Civic Center on Thursday, April 11. Solivan, with banjoist Mike Munford, guitarist Chris Luquette and bassist Jeremy Middleton were named IBMA’s 2016 Instrumental Group of the Year for a second time. Their critically acclaimed album Cold Spell earned a 2015 Grammy nomination for Best Bluegrass Album of the Year.
The band’s sound is progressive bluegrass that showcases the infinite instrumental, vocal and songwriting skills of the members. Frank Solivan has built a reputation as a monster mandolinist and together with Dirty Kitchen; they present a compelling, unforgettable stage performance.
The band’s latest CD, “If You Can’t Stand the Hear,” is a new 10-song collection featuring a vibrant mix of songs from traditional bluegrass to red-hot originals. The band has been hailed as true progressive innovators expanding the parameters of the genre.
