WEST JEFFERSON — The King Bees will host the third Backstreet Concert out of 10 in the free series’ 2019 lineup at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 21, according to the West Jefferson Community Partnership.
The Hotel Tavern is the individual sponsor of this concert, and the band will start its free set at Backstreet Park beginning at 5:30 p.m. In the event of rain the concert will move to the Ashe Arts Center at 303 West School Street, according to the WJCP.
The King Bees are composed of Ashe County residents Rob “Hound Dog” Baskerville and Penny “Queen Bee” Zamagni, who travel the world with their blues and American roots music. This year marks the 31st anniversary of the band and the 16th year of the New River Blues Festival that they sponsor here in Grassy Creek in northern Ashe County.
The West Jefferson Community Partnership said they are an organization of businesses, non-profits and individuals interested in promoting the town of West Jefferson. The partnership meets at City Hall on the fourth Friday of every month at 8:30 a.m., and people interested in getting involved in the town should attend.
