Ashe County Republicans May meeting

WEST JEFFERSON — Ashe County Republican Party members convened for their monthly meeting to discuss party business at Sweet & Savory Bakery & Deli Tuesday, May 21.

About 14 Republicans, including Sheriff B. Phil Howell and Commissioner Paula Perry, discussed the upcoming Christmas in July Festival and the annual N.C. 5th District Republicans convention.

The treasurer reported that there was $1,231.12 in the Republican party coffers.

Tickets are on sale at Ashe GOP Headquarters for a fundraiser dinner with Diamond & Silk, who are performing August 10 at the Blue Ridge Theater and Event Center, catered by Sagebrush Steakhouse, according to theater owner and Republican Party Vice Chair Steve Mochen.

The group tentatively agreed to hold its Lincoln/Reagan Picnic in the Park at Lansing’s Creeper Trail Park during its regular meeting time September 17.

After 41 minutes, the meeting adjourned. The next assembly of the Ashe County Republican Party is at Sweet & Savory Bakery & Deli beginning 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 18.
