JEFFERSON — Ashe County District Court was held Thursday, July 11, at the Ashe County Courthouse, hearing the cases of Cody W. Anderson, Jonathan A. Boggs, Joshua D. Burton, Chelsea A. Cobb, Jack J. Cobbler, Jeannie A. Cobbler, Jannie L. Dixon, Tammy L. Lee, Wesley S. Pennington and Ralph E. Smith III.

Anderson, 31, of Lansing, is charged with possession of stolen goods, possession of burglary tools, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of an open container of alcohol in the passenger area. Anderson’s case was continued to Aug. 29.

Boggs, 37, of Warrensville, is charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or distribute methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, selling methamphetamine, delivering methamphetamine and conspiracy to sell methamphetamine. Boggs’ case was continued to Aug. 15.

Burton, 29, of Millers Creek, was charged with obtaining property under false pretenses, larceny merchant product code fraud, possession of marijuana up to one-half ounces, misdemeanor larceny and two counts of second degree trespass. Burton was sentenced to 45 days in jail with 12 months of unsupervised probation for the obtaining property under false pretenses charge. All other charges were consolidated or dismissed.

Cobb, 27, of Todd, is charged with simple possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, two counts of driving while license revoked, possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor larceny. Cobb’s case was continued to Aug. 29.

Jack J. Cobbler, 48, of West Jefferson, is charged with possession of a stolen automobile, two counts of possession of stolen goods and resisting a public officer. Cobbler’s case was continued to Aug. 29.

Jeannie A. Cobbler, 51, of Jefferson, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession of a schedule II controlled substance and felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance. Cobbler’s case was continued to Sept. 5.

Dixon, 44, of Creston, is charged with two counts of operating a vehicle with no insurance, two counts of driving/allowing a motor vehicle with no registration, driving while impaired, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed weapon and fictitious/altered title/registration card or tag. Dixon’s case was continued to Oct. 3.

Lee, 54, of Sparta, is charged with three counts of selling methamphetamine, three counts of delivering methamphetamine, three counts of possession of methamphetamine and three counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine. Lee’s case was continued to Aug. 29.

Pennington, 23, of Lansing, is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and two probation violations. Pennington’s case was continued to July 18.

Smith III, 41, of West Jefferson, is charged with two counts of felony cruelty to animals and two counts of felony killing an animal by starvation. Smith’s case was continued to Dec. 2.
