JEFFERSON — Ashe County District Court was held Thursday, June 13, at the Ashe County Courthouse, hearing the cases of Marcus B. Cockerham, Eleanor L. Copeland, Rickey L. Ellison, Drew H. Hoffman, Steven M. McDonald, Crystal D. Medley, Wesley S. Pennington, Jared R. Perri, Jessica L. Rutherford, Candese H. Smith and Robert B. Woodie.

Cockerham, 38, of Jefferson, is charged with two counts of reckless driving to endanger, driving while impaired, two counts of felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving -wanton disregard, no operator’s license, carrying a concealed weapon and misdemeanor larceny. Cockerham’s case was continued to July 18.

Copeland, 22, of Deep Gap, is charged with two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and distribute methamphetamine, two counts of possession of methamphetamine, two counts of selling methamphetamine, two counts of delivering methamphetamine and two counts of maintaining a vehicle of dwelling place for a controlled substance. Copeland’s case was continued to July 18.

Ellison, 54, of Lansing, is charged with two counts of felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance, four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, three count of possession of methamphetamine, simple possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting a public officer, two counts of second degree trespass, assault on a female, possession of marijuana up to one-half ounces and simple possession of a schedule II controlled substance. Ellison’s case was continued to July 18.

Hoffman, 45, of Lansing, is charged with assault on a female, communicating threats, violating a domestic violence protection order, two counts of trafficking in methamphetamine, two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and delivering methamphetamine, two counts of possession of methamphetamine, two counts of selling methamphetamine and two counts of delivering methamphetamine. Hoffman’s assault on a female, communicating threats and violating a domestic violence protection order charges were dismissed after the witness in the case pleaded the fifth, the rest of his case was continued to July 25.

McDonald, 35, of Jefferson, was charged with simple possession of a schedule II controlled substance, simple possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, use of a foreign license while driving while license revoked, felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor larceny and three counts of no operator’s license. McDonald’s case was continued to July 25.

Medley, 37, of West Jefferson, is charged with a probation violation, simple possession of a schedule VI controlled substance, two counts of possession of marijuana paraphernalia, misdemeanor larceny, possession of marijuana up to one-half ounces, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of tobacco by an inmate. Medley’s case was continued to June 27.

Pennington, 23, of Lansing, is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and two probation violations. Pennington’s case was continued to July 11.

Perri, 30, of Warrensville, is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of simple possession of a schedule II controlled substance. Perri’s case was continued to Aug. 1.

Rutherford, 35, of Fleetwood, is charged with three counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine, three counts of selling methamphetamine, three counts of delivering methamphetamine, four counts of possession of methamphetamine, driving while license revoked, expired/no registration, operating a vehicle with no insurance, fictitious/altered title/registration card or tag and two counts of maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance. Rutherford’s case was continued to Aug. 29.

Smith, 33, of Mountain City, Tenn., is charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and distribute methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, possession of stolen goods, driving while license revoked and fictitious of altered title/registration card/tag. Smith’s case was continued to July 25.

Woodie, 33, of Crumpler, was charged with two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver methamphetamine, two counts of selling methamphetamine, two counts of delivering methamphetamine, two counts of possession of methamphetamine and two counts of maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance. Woodie’s case was continued to Aug. 29.
