RALEIGH — North Carolina House Representative Ray Russell (D-Boone) will postpone the grand opening of his Ashe County Headquarters due to a scheduling announcement from House Speaker Tim Moore (R-Kings Mountain).

Russell said Moore announced Wednesday, Sept. 4, that the State Legislature would be in session when the planned Sept. 14 grand opening would take place.

“Last week, an N.C. court declared partisan gerrymandering unconstitutional and required the N.C. Legislature to redraw districts by Wednesday, Sept. 18,” Russell said. “This ruling is historic and will result in dramatic changes in N.C. politics.”

The office will be at 519 E. Main St. in Jefferson. As of presstime, the event’s rescheduled date has not been announced.
