JEFFERSON — Three candidates have filed for three different positions up for vote in municipal elections 2019, according to the Ashe County Board of Elections.

For Lansing elections, incumbent Mayor Dylan Lightfoot filed for re-election on the same day the filing period began, Friday, July 5.

Lansing Alderman Tom Richardson, who was appointed to the town board during its June meeting, filed for election to the Lansing Board of Aldermen Monday, July 8.

Also July 8, former West Jefferson Alderman Tom Hartman entered his name for election to the position of West Jefferson Mayor.

The filing period for municipal elections 2019 ends at noon Friday, June 19, according to the Ashe County Board of Elections. Candidates may file at the board of elections office on the second floor of the Ashe County Courthouse.

There are two town board positions plus the mayor’s seat open for election in Jefferson and West Jefferson, and three town board positions plus the mayor’s seat open for election in Lansing, Ashe Post & Times previously reported.
