The following wreck reports have been released by the North Carolina Department of Public Safety in Ashe County.

Nov. 21

A single-vehicle accident: occurred at 8:44 p.m. on N.C. 16 near Jefferson. According to the wreck report, a 2014 Nissan, driven by Kyley E. Smith of Lawrenceville, Georgia, traveled north on N.C. 16. The vehicle collided with a deer that traveled onto the roadway. The estimated cost of damage to the Nissan was $7,000, and the vehicle was not considered drivable.

Nov. 22

A single-vehicle accident: occurred at 8:41 p.m. on U.S. 221 near West Jefferson. According to the wreck report, a 2016 Kia, driven by Omar Amezquita of Polk City, Florida, traveled south on U.S. 221 and struck a deer. The estimated cost of damage to the Kia was $3,500, and the vehicle was not considered drivable.

Nov. 23

A single-vehicle accident: occurred at 10:14 p.m. on Silas Creek Road near Jefferson. According to the wreck report, a 2004 Chevrolet, driven by Willard D. B. Walker of Lansing, traveled south on Silas Creek Road. The Chevrolet lost control in a curve and ran off the right shoulder, striking an embankment. The estimated cost of damage to the Chevrolet was $4,500, and the vehicle was not considered drivable. Walker was issued with citations for exceeding a safe speed and DWI.

Nov. 24

A two-vehicle accident: occurred at 6:28 p.m. on U.S. 221 near Jefferson. According to the wreck report, a 2000 Freightliner, driven by Alain Caballero De La Torre of Miami, traveled south on U.S. 221, while a 2004 Nissan, driven by Dylan B. Howell of Jefferson, traveled north on U.S. 221. The Freightliner crossed the centerline and struck the Nissan. The estimated costs of damage were $500 to the Freightliner and $3,500 to the Nissan. The Freightliner was considered drivable, but the Nissan was not. Caballero De La Torre was issued a citation for traveling left of center.

A single-vehicle accident: occurred at 10:23 p.m. on Beaver Creek School Road near West Jefferson. According to the wreck report, a 2013 Ford, driven by John G. Jones of West Jefferson, traveled south on Beaver Creek School Road. The vehicle struck a deer in the roadway. The estimated cost of damage to the Ford was $3,500, and the vehicle was not drivable.

A single-vehicle accident: occurred at 7:01 a.m. on N.C. 163 near West Jefferson. According to the wreck report, a 2009 Kia, driven by Jerry D. Reavis of West Jefferson, traveled south on N.C. 163. The vehicle struck a tree limb in the roadway. The estimated cost of damage to the Kia was $4,000, and the vehicle was not considered drivable.

Nov. 25

A single-vehicle accident: occurred at 5:44 p.m. on Three Top Road near West Jefferson. According to the wreck report, a 2010 Honda, driven by Douglas C. Blackford of Todd, traveled north on Three Top Road. The vehicle crossed the center line and ran off the road to the left and struck a ditch. The estimated cost of damage to the Honda was $4,000, and the vehicle was not considered drivable. Blackford was issued a citation for driving left of center.

Nov. 27

A single-vehicle accident: occurred at 9:26 p.m. on Big Laurel Road near West Jefferson. According to the wreck report, a 2013 Chevrolet, driven by Adam T. Courtner of Mountain City, Tenn., traveled south on Big Laurel Road. The Chevrolet ran off the road to the right and struck a guardrail face. The estimated cost of damage to the Chevrolet was $2,500, and the vehicle was not considered drivable. Courtner was issued a citation for exceeding a safe speed.

A single-vehicle accident: occurred at 7:49 a.m. on Clarence Lyall Road near West Jefferson. According to the wreck report, a 1999 Toyota, driven by Karen K. Harper of West Jefferson, traveled northwest on Clarence Lyall Road. The vehicle struck ice in the roadway. The driver overcorrected and traveled off the roadway to the right, then striking a ditch and overturning. The estimated cost of damage to the Toyota was $5,000, and the vehicle was not considered drivable.

A single-vehicle accident: occurred at 9:50 p.m. on N.C. 163 near West Jefferson. According to the wreck report, a 2007 Jeep, driven by William M. McFarland of Wilmington, traveled west on N.C. 163. The vehicle ran off the road to the right and overcorrected. The Jeep then overturned. The estimated cost of damage to the Jeep was $4,500, and the vehicle was not considered drivable.
