Buford Stanley Wilson Jr., 72, of West Jefferson, N.C., died Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at Ashe Memorial Hospital.
Buford was born August 27, 1946, in Johnson City, TN to the late Buford and Ida Hilton Wilson. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister, Senrea Richardson; and brother, Rex Wilson.
Buford was a devout man of God who loved studying his Bible and playing gospel music on his guitar. He was member and Sunday school teacher at Calvary Baptist Church. Buford taught Bible study at Ashe Assisted Living and loved to play pool there with his friends. Buford enjoyed spending time with his favorite cat, Cupcake, playing horseshoes and working around the house. He served in the US Air Force and was stationed at Lockland Air Force Base in Texas and also was stationed in Holland.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Kirby McNeill and the Rev. Joey McClure. Burial will follow in the West Jefferson Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, January 18, at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Wilson is survived by, his wife, Linda Wilson; brother, Mel Wilson of Johnson City, TN; his mother-in-law, Louise Shumate; and several nieces and nephews.
