Johnny Wayne Patrick, known to many as “Wig,” 57, of Creston, North Carolina, passed away peacefully with family and friends by his side on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the Watauga Medical Center.
Wayne was born on Thursday, October 12, 1961 in Jefferson, North Carolina.
He was a beloved son, husband, father, uncle and grandfather.
Wayne was well known in the Creston Community, as he was the proud owner and operator of Hwy 88 Grocery. At The Store, he enjoyed spending time with his numerous friends and neighbors. As time would allow, he liked to be outdoors, hunting for deer and turkey. He especially loved cooking a meal for his family each Sunday.
Wayne was a talented craftsman. Some of his projects included building waterwheels, swings, fences and reclaiming lumber. He also loved going to the dirt track and working on the race cars as a member of the Eastridge Racing Team. Wayne always found pleasure in helping others and he will forever be loved and missed by his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Gladys Patrick; and his maternal grandparents, Vernie and Maude Calhoun.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 35 years, Brenda Patrick of the home; his parents, John and Mary Patrick of Creston, NC; daughters, Rachel Farmer and husband Johnny Farmer of Lansing, NC and Brittany Patrick of the home; granddaughter, Emmaline Farmer; sister, Melissa Williams and husband Ricky Williams of Creston, NC; several nieces and nephews and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. -8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the Mountain City Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Danny Farmer and the Rev. Mike Farmer officiating.
Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery (located on Little Laurel Road, Creston, NC).
Pallbearers will be Jeff Eastridge, Ryan Eastridge, Chris Williams, Jeff Banks, Mark Greer and Dalton Trivette. Honorary pallbearer is Roger Parsons.
Flowers are accepted, or memorial donations made to the family will be appreciated.
