Ready or not, here it comes.

With our recent “cool” temperatures and wintry mix, Old Man Winter has laid out the welcome mat for the fourth of the four seasons for which we all live in the High Country: ski season.

This past week saw the opening of one area resort with the others poised to follow.

Our advice? Enjoy it while it lasts and take advantage of everything our mountains have to offer.

And, as always during this time of year, that includes choosing a choose-n-cut Christmas Tree.

More advice: Get them while you can. Some farms near Ashe County sold out of their stock and had to close early last year.

This year, the forecast is for similarly heavy demand.

So, choose early.

After all, you’ve already chosen wisely by choosing to make the High Country your home, second home or holiday destination. This next choice just follows — naturally.
