WEST JEFFERSON — The Ashe County High School girls Husky volleyball team hosted the South Caldwell Spartans on Sept. 27, pulling out a 3-0 win.

The Huskies took advantage quickly, sending hard serves and spikes to the opposing team, the ball often meeting the ground before the visiting team had a chance to respond.

Service aces from Adeline Bowers, Emmi Cheek, Kirklyn Hudler, Alexis Rollins and their teammates made it an easy victory for the Huskies, banding together with teamwork and determination.

The first set was won 25-20, the second 31-29 and the third 25-15.

The Lady Husky Volleyball team is now 2-5 in the overall Northwestern 3A/4A conference and they only have a few more games to go. On Wednesday Sept. 29, they traveled to Watauga and took a 3-0 loss, on Sept. 30 they faced off against Hibriten, falling 3-2 and on Oct. 4, they played Alexander Central, falling 3-2.

Husky volleyball will continue on Oct. 6 at Hibriten, beginning at 4:30 p.m. for JV and 6 p.m. for varsity.
