Bethany United Methodist Church

Bethany United Methodist Church invites everyone to their following Advent services:

The children and youth of Bethany will present their Christmas musical production, “Silent Mice, Holy Mice,” at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, in the church sanctuary. This charming musical tells the story of how the world’s most beloved Christmas Carol, “Silent Night,” came to be written. Filled with humor and fun, this unforgettable Christmas tale is shared through the antics of some very wise mice and the lazy church cat named Sebastian. Following the children’s program, everyone is invited to the stone soup supper. The Bethany Ding-a-Lings will present their holiday handbell concert at 7 p.m. The program will include sacred and secular favorites of the season, with piano, organ, flute, horn and harmonica accompaniment. The Chancel Choir will present a service of lessons and carols Sunday, Dec. 22. This service consists of lessons, beginning with the Old Testament and working through to the beginning of the Gospel of John, and carols or Christmas anthems. Two Christmas Eve worship services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 24. The 5 p.m. service will focus on children and families. A second service will be held at 11 p.m. Both services will include the sacrament of Holy Communion. For more information, call the church office at (336) 877-2801, or visit

One big night, two big shows. You are invited to a wonderful Christmas celebration at Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Glendale Springs Sunday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. for two holiday performances. First, you’ll enjoy our Children’s Ministry musical, “Sing a Song of Christmas.” Consisting of a great cast of children, you’ll be touched by this special choral production that presents the Christmas story in an easy and fun way. Then, you’ll be blessed by our Teen Ministry as they present for the first time, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” In this hilarious Christmas tale, a couple struggling to put on a church Christmas pageant is faced with casting the Herdman kids — probably the most inventively awful kids in history. You won’t believe the mayhem, and the fun, of this drama when the Herdmans collide with the Christmas story head on. Following the service, everyone in attendance will receive a goodie bag filled with holiday treats, while supplies last. Bring the whole family for a fantastic evening. The church is located at 3044 Old Wilkesboro Rd., just across from the Raccoon Holler Campground and just off Highway 16. For more information and/or directions, call the church at (336) 982-4840.
